Horizon Bank Donates $15,000 to Waverly Fire Department for Advanced Medical

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

City of Waverly, December 20, 2024

Horizon Bank Donates $15,000 to Waverly Fire Department for Advanced Medical Training Equipment

The City of Waverly is proud to announce a generous $15,000 donation from Horizon Bank to the Waverly Fire Department. This contribution will allow the Department to purchase a state-of-the-art simulator manikin, enhancing their ability to train for a variety of medical scenarios. This advanced equipment will enable the Department to increase the number of training sessions and ensure members stay well-prepared for all types of medical emergencies.

In addition to the new simulator manikin, the Fire Department is working to replace its aging CPR manikins and add an additional set. The demand for CPR training among Waverly residents and businesses has grown, and the Department is eager to meet this need. Equipping more people with CPR skills is a vital step toward making our community safer.

"The incident at the Aquatic Center this year served as a strong reminder of how critical it is for individuals to know CPR," said Ryan Mueller, Fire Chief. "The more people who are trained and confident in their skills, the safer our community becomes. With the new manikins, we’ll be able to expand our CPR training programs and reach even more people."

Horizon Bank continues to demonstrate its commitment to Waverly as a dedicated community partner. Their generosity directly supports initiatives that enhance public safety and improve the lives of residents. "We are incredibly grateful for Horizon Bank’s support," said Stephanie Fisher, City Administrator. "This donation will make a lasting impact on our Fire Department’s training capabilities and allow us to expand lifesaving education throughout Waverly."

The City of Waverly and the Fire Department encourage residents and businesses to take advantage of upcoming CPR training opportunities. Details on these programs will be shared in the near future.
