Waverly Fire/Rescue Open House
Update 10/8/24 from Waverly/Fire Rescue's Facebook page:
The first week of October is Fire Safety Week. It also has been usually the time frame in which we host an Open House at the Fire Station. This year, we are pausing our Open House in October to better allocate our resources in our Fire Prevention Programs at the Preschools in Waverly, multiple Halloween events and scheduling challenges around Fall break for District 145 Schools.
We are creating a new internal committee that will focus on 2025. It is our goal to will move our open house to earlier in the year to reduce conflicts, open up better opportunities, and re-imagine what our open house should be to better showcase our department and our community partners.
In addition 2025 Fire Safety Week we will expand our current program and have more focus on fire prevention activities for children older than Preschool Age.
We appreciate your support and we look forward to bringing you more community engagement activities in 2025.
Thanks,
Chief Mueller
Every fall, Waverly Fire/Rescue Department hosts an open house during fire prevention week. The food is always great and there many activities for adults and children to participate in, including taking a ride in a fire truck and watching the helicopter. It is a great event to see the equipment and meet the wonderful men & women who volunteer their time to keep our community safe. The event has been moved from the Community Foundations to the Fire Station.
